Arts and Family Bonding at the Park

Take a day off and make it a truly positive bonding experience with your kids!

On November 29, 2016, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and Save the Children will turn Rizal Park into a creative playground for parents, teachers and guardians to enjoy happy moments with children. Entitled #WeChoosePositive, this family festival will include a rich array of activities, including a parade, workshops taught by PETA Artist-Teachers and storytelling sessions featuring Lola Basyang and Batang Lampara winners.

PARADE
Catch, or better yet, join the parade from Museo Pambata to Rizal Park with ‘Higantes’, lion dancers and marching band as we color the route with our declaration of support for childhood without violence. The parade begins at 2pm.

Parents and teachers, if you haven’t had time to visit the Museo Pambata, now is the time to see this museum for children before joining the parade to Luneta.

WORKSHOPS

Do not be mere spectators as your children explore their artistic skills. Be with them. Join the PUPPETRY AND VISUAL ARTS WORKSHOP. Make this an opportunity to discover more about how your children think and to listen to what they could not say in words but could probably say through drawings or puppets. Or participate in the MUSIC AND RHYTHM WORKSHOP and make them ‘feel the love’ as you sing and clap your hands together to your own beats. If your children have always wanted to take a PETA workshop, this will be like a sampler for them as PETA Artist-Teachers will facilitate.

PLAY AREA

Play with mimes. Color art sheets. Fold papers and turn them into animated objects through the Japanese art of origami.

Listen to music with upcoming OPM and PhilPOP artists or listen to Lola Basyang and other children tell stories.

Sit back and relax to watch children films and videos from different parts of the globe.
Have a picnic at the park.

The choices are endless so you will always have something to do and enjoy.

GRAND CONCERT OF MUSIC AND PERFORMANCES

At 5pm, join us at the Luneta Open Air Auditorium and watch two short plays that drive the truth on the effects of corporal punishment. ADOBO MONOLOGUE, a one-act play that follows a boy passionately cooking the Filipino favorite adobo and slowly reveals how his late father would often beat them up as children. Written by Jason Barcial and directed by Dudz Terana, the monologue is bound to make you laugh and leave a pang in your heart at the same time.

One of the most lauded plays in the last Virgin Lab Fest, Dominique Beatrice La Victoria’s ANG BATA SA DRUM, also under the direction of Dudz Terana, will be featured as well. Set in a home in Northern Mindanao, the play follows an after-school conversation between two siblings, one of which is literally placed inside a drum as punishment. If you weren’t able to see the play during its run, this is your chance to see it for free.

Mr. Noel Cabangon will also share the stage with his son, Gab Cabangon, and his band, Kaleidoscope Eyes. This will all be punctuated with a grand fireworks display. Let’s end the day with the commitment for the more positive parenting choice of childhood without violence and a spectacular display of colors in the sky.

Yes, it’s never easy to become parents. Sometimes, it’s more convenient to choose the traditional but our world has changed and it’s about time we too look for alternative choices in raising our children. We do not know of any responsible parent who would not want their children to grow up as kind and loving individuals. But getting there is quite tricky. And the methods that we use are critical. Do we really want them to fear us? Do we want to let them grow up in an environment where violence is acceptable? It’s all about choices! And on November 29, 2016, let’s choose to take the first step to making memorable experiences that they will cherish when they are older with the young ones as #WeChoosePositive!

ADMISSION IS FREE for all activities. However, visual arts and music workshops have limited slots so we advice you to register in advance by calling Riz Ponti at 0915-67876053 or visiting the DUYAN or PETA Theater Center pages on Facebook and sending us a message with your name, contact information, your workshop of choice and the age of your kids.

This event is also made possible with the support of PhilPOP Foundation and OPM.

Makiling.

For those who are looking to invest in their first home, various affordable communities were also present including house & lot offerings, like Futura Homes San Pedro Laguna, or the quaint townhouse units of La Brisa in Calamba.

Owning Your Dreams

The Home Expo also served as the venue for Filinvest to launch their video series, “Owning Your Dreams.” Hosted by Dream Advocate, Richard Yap, and created by big-screen director, Paolo Dy. The videos feature persons who dreamt, worked for it, and now live their dream. These individuals are living testaments to the age-old adage that dreams come true through hard work and perseverance. Lazada Sweeps the Christmas Season with more than 400,000 items in 24 hours

Lazada Philippines has set a new record on the first day of its highly-anticipated shopping event. On November 11, Filipino shoppers checked out more than 400,000 items on the website and mobile app.

“Online Revolution is the biggest online shopping event in the Philippines and SoutheastAsia.” said Inanc Balci, CEO of Lazada Philippines. “We created Online Revolution in 2012 to encourage more consumers to experience the benefits of shopping online. Every year we see a larger pool of online shoppers, with growing diversity across generations and geographical locations. This was once again confirmed this year, as we saw consumers ordering from places as far as Bongao, Tawi-Tawi to purchase international and local brands not previously available to them. This makes us very excited about the future”

The operations team was in full swing as items shipped from the warehouse were 22x more than an average day. The shortest lead time from checkout to delivery was a record-breaking 8 hours, a feat worth celebrating at the Lazada warehouse. The first 11.11 delivery was received by a customer at 10:29am

Filipinos were truly in a Christmas shopping frenzy. With deals starting at midnight, shoppers spent about seven minutes on the Lazada’s website and fourteen minutes on the Lazada mobile app. In the first minute of the sale alone, a total of 241 items were checked out, ending the day with more than 400,000 items.

11.11 is only the beginning of a month-long sales event. During the next 4 weeks, Lazada will tailor its offering to all its customers’ interests with a weekly curated selection of items for beauty fans,
supermoms and families, techies and fashionistas. The deals extend over 17 product categories including Fashion, Health & Beauty, Home & Living, and Electronics.

Customers also get a chance to win an Isuzu D-Max and Turkish Airlines international roundtrip tickets with a minimum purchase. Join the Christmas shopping craze by visiting www.lazada.com.ph or downloading the Lazada Mobile App for free.

Kabuhayan Expo 2016

Various SMEs and LGUs attended the Kabuhayan Expo November 11-13, 2016 at SM Megamall Tradehall.

Ms. Sandy Sanchez Montano, the first ASEAN woman leader, gave a talk at the closing ceremony. She emphasized that during calamities the relief goods given are canned goods and noodles which are of low nutritional value. She gone to a place hit by a typhoon but surprised that the people there do not need relief goods because they produce their own food.

According to DOST, camote, cassava, malunggay and monggo are variants that are resilient or can withstand harsh weather. ORAC test results also showed that Malunggay (157,000) is more potent than Spirulina with only 61,900.

She tackled the ABC's in ASEAN Collaborate -> Audit (Money and sience and technology) -> Build ->  Tech transfer -> Collaborate

From CHEERS booth. Ms. Sandy Montano told the audience that there were 250 copies printed as freebies. She encourages shoppers to bring their own bag than using plastic bags.

My Luyang Dilaw Tea Review

I added 4 tablespoon of the granules to half cup water (mug). The granules has sugar already. It is like tea. There is no after taste and sting. It is not spicy or hot but I can still taste the ginger.
