UPLB Graduation Improvements (2016)

First of all Congratulations 2016 Graduates!

I am quite impressed with the improvements for the graduation ceremony.

Days before the Graduation (June 24, 2016 7am) I visited Freedom park and saw men putting up a "tent". I was shocked at how big the tent is. I remember back in 2009 when my mother graduated PhD the tents doesn't have a metal support like this. Some tents where circular so some graduates also got wet.

I heard last year the tent at the middle almost collapsed. Thank goodness no accident happened.

According to rumors the structure was purchased by UPLB for 2 million pesos. Well not bad for a long term investment. I remember watching a graduation past few years where in the graduates where soaked in rain and then dried under the sun. I saw parents asking guards to give umbrellas to their children/graduates but some refused to give the umbrellas. And of course the professors and officials should not get wet.

And because the tent is costly, the grounds were also used for the hooding ceremony of the graduate school.

Below is a picture one day before the graduation the tent is almost finished. This is during the graduation practice.

I was not able to watch some of my Masters and BS graduates friends this morning because I attended an event. I want to congratulate them for finishing the years of hardships and challenges. Everything was worthwhile.

What made me happy is that the call time now for graduation is 6am. iwas heatstroke. Colleges provided food for their graduates. ^_^

My sister was able to pick roses that were left by graduates.

Hmmm  during my time there was no tent, no food, no roses/flowers and we were required to were a black toga unlike now that wearing Sablay is required. Not that I am bitter but somehow I wish things were also better during my time.

Student life is hard but going to a higher level like professional world is harder. There is less dependence on parents especially on finances. Also you will meet different people with different personalities. Application for a job can be tough due to higher educational level and working esperience of other applicants. and many more.. On a brighter note, I hope graduates will find a job or work that will enhance their skills, adversity quotient, etc or start their own business.

Glam Works Cold Wax

Going to the salon for waxing of legs might be expensive sometimes. I'm glad there are now options available that you can buy from the market. I tried Glam Works Cold Wax (Milk with Shea Butter). I got it from SM department store for only P99. I purchased it because I am afraid of damaging my skin if I use the wax that needs heating.

The Packaging

The inside of the box contains the squeeze bottle of the cold wax and waxing paper.

The Squeeze Bottle

The Ingredients

The two main ingredients that attracted me to buy this is Milk and Shea Butter.

What is the benefit of having milk in this cold wax?
Milk has a unique ability to remove the oil-soluble impurities with the help of fat-soluble enzyme lipase, protein based impurities with the help of protease and dead skin cells with lactic acid.

(Source: http://www.dermatocare.com/blog/9-Benefits-of-using-Milk-on-Skin--know-from-dermatologist)

What is the benefit of having Shea Butter?
Shea Butter has such a large healing fraction, in addition to moisturizing fraction, regular use of this natural cream can treat many skin problems, including blemishes, wrinkles, itching, sunburns, small skin wounds, eczema, skin allergies, insect bites, frost bite, and other skin conditions.(source: www.sheainstitute.com/asbi-library/21reasons/)

Directions for Use:

  • Place cold wax on skin.
  • Use a spatula to spread the cold wax.
  • Make it thick enough or not too thin.
  • Place waxing paper / bond paper on top of the wax.
  • Pull the paper against direction of hair growth.
  • For me bond paper was more effective.
  • Wash skin with water.

The sticky wax gets off easily with water.

Fashion 21 BB cream with concealer

Last 2 weeks I was in SM Department Store finding an affordable BB cream with a medium coverage. There were about 10 brands that I tried their BB Creams.

And this one is I think is a really good one.

I bought it from the stall of Fashion 21 but the price tag indicates Watsons. ahehehe

The box

And yes it is only more than 200 php.

The Ingredients

Two main ingredients that I like that is in here are Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit E) and Candelilla Cera.

The squeeze bottle

I like that it is a BB cream (20 grams) with concealer at the bottom part (5 grams)plus it the BB cream has SPF 30. I chose Shade 1 because #2 is darker

The concealer

It is not a liquid concealer. It is advisable to wipe off the concealer. The moisture is maybe because it is aircon inside the mall.

It blends well with my skin so it would not be obvious that I applied a concealer.

The BB cream

The cream just blended with my face/skin. Well I guess it just fits me. I happy that I bought it. It is lightweight and I did not feel itchy after application. It is odorless. After about 8-12 hours it becomes oily on the face so you need to pat dry off your face using a tissue then apply foundation.

LA Girl Lipstick

Last week it was my first time buy a lipstick from LA Girl. (B.T. LA Lipstick). It was also my first time buying a lip product that is more than P200. I was using a brand for many years now since it doesn't cause my lips to darken but the shade I want isn't available. I remember my friend told me that LA Girl Lipstick doesn't cause her lips to get darker so I decided to give it a try.

The Box/Packaging

The Case

The Ingredients

The shade I picked is Misty Pink.

I chose shade of pink since I really don't wear red lisptick. I want it for everyday use and not to get attraction from people.

I think the color suits me. The lipstick is not matte. It is a creamy lipstick.

It is long lasting because after I ate dinner there are still some color or stain left on my lips. It is mild to the lips. I didn't feel any tingly sensation when I wear it. It blends well and doesn't leave flakes or cake like appearance.

Over all I really like it. I am curious to try the matte lipstick of LA Girl however it has higher price than this. I will still observe if it will not darken my lips.

Attended an Award Ceremony

I attended Sylvatrop's (a technical journal) 40 years celebration and awarding ceremony. I received the certificate of recognition for my father was a part of it as Managing Editor for 5 years. The event was held at Sulo Hotel, Quezon City last June 8. So I decided to make a short review about the hotel.

Below are the pictures.

I find the restrooms convenient since there are chairs and chandeliers.

As usual the hotel restrooms have paintings.

The table set up.

The food

Afterwards we went to the exhibit at DENR Main office.

Had a chance to meet Palayan city Mayor Rianne Cuevas.
