Review: Nivea Lip Balm

Name: Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm
Flavor: Cherry
Weight: 4.8 g

The Nivea sale was fun. Although I really want the Lip Butter (in can) but it can't be found immediately or nearby. So I just bought the Nivea Lip Balm

Packaging

The Lip Balm is attached in a paper or cardboard printed with the Nivea logo and other details. This makes the product more secured.

According to their website it is Dermatologist tested.

NIVEA® Fruity Shine with strawberry aroma and shimmering pigments:
  • Delights lips with fruity scent and smoothing, long lasting care.
  • Naturally enhances the look of your lips with a reddish glossy color.

The ingredients are listed at the back.

  • Ingredients/Ingrédients:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Polyisobutene, Octyldodecanol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax/ Cire de candelilla, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Microcrystalline Wax/ Cire microcristalline, Isopropyl Palmitate, Synthetic Wax, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Glucoside, Water/Eau, Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Fruit Juice, Mica, Propylene Glycol, BHT, Aroma/Flavour, Yellow 6 Lake, Titanium Dioxide, Red 7 Lake.
The ingredients seem helpful to the lips but I'm a little concerned about the Mica, Silica and BHT. Any guess why? You can research about them and write at the comments what do you think about those ingredients.

The Lip Balm

To use the lip balm, you need to rotate the bottom part for the lip balm to go up.

Actually this is not the first time for me try this product. A classmate gave one to me way back when I was in high school. I do not know exactly her reason but after a few weeks of applying it my lips got darker.

I assume Nivea had reformulated this product because the packaging change. Anyway lets see on the coming days what will be the effect on my lips.

It does color my lips but since my lips are not naturally light colored or pinkish it is not that obvious that I applied it.

Anyone who has tried this product? Write your comments below.

Review: Avon Magic Lipstick

Simple Pretty (Avon) Magic Lipstick
Price: P135
Available in all Avon outlets.
Click here to see the locations of outlets.

I recently bought a magic lipstick from Avon. And since I am an Avon Lady I get 25% discount on products.

The advantage of a magic lipstick is that even if after you eat there is some lipstick which stays on so you do not need to re apply immediately.

The Packaging

With  seal

 without the seal
The lipstick case has a seal which is a clear plastic. Printed on the plastic is the logo of simply pretty in gray ink. And at the back are the ingredients and how to use.

The lipstick itself

I bought the one with the lightest pink (according to the brochure) which is snow pink. It is white but when you apply it on the lips it turns light pink. If you want a darker pink then you just need to reapply it. It is not a matte lipstick so it feels like a moisturizing lipstick.

I would recommend it to people with lighter shade of lips so that the color would be noticeable. After eating I checked using the mirror if the lipstick had gone off. It did but left about 30% of the color from the original.

Below is the picture of how it looks like on my lips upon application.

Review: Nivea Body Milk Whitening

Recently the Nivea 50% ended. May 9 to be exact. My brother also bought some items Nivea for men and he called me to know if there was something I want to have. I said the orange Cell Repair and Protect would be great for the ladies of the family. And so he bought one which is the 250 mL. There will be four of us ladies who will share in one bottle.

Name: Nivea Body Milk Whitening Cell Repair and Protect
Weight: 250mL

Packaging

This orange one is slightly lesser in price than the pink or violet one. And since it is 50% it costs P100+ instead of P211.75.

The front part is informative already and says the function 'Strengthens the skin to reveal fairer skin tone'. So it strengthens the skin + whitens or lightens the skin.

The essential ingredients are also listed in the front part Camu Camu and Acerola Cherry.

What's great is that it says 'All Skin Types' so technically it can be for a large number of customers than lotions with 'For dry skin only' or 'for oily skin only', etc.

The blue cap has an embossed lettering "NIVEA'.

The back part indicates the feel you will expect- it has only light feel. It also states that your skin will be fairer and smoother after 14 days of regular use. The website is also listed at back. www.Nivea.com. For me this important because the people nowadays always rely on the internet so if they get curious about a company and its product they can go straight to the website.

The ingredients are listed at the back.

Its great that the body milk has grape seed oil and fruit juice and also citric acid but I'm concerned about the two Parabens listed. Health conscious people and also people who are looking for para free products will be crossing out this product if ever they read this.

The Body Milk

Honestly I'm still wondering what is the difference between a body milk and a lotion and serum. Well for me body milk has thinner consistency that lotion. Do you agree? Or can anyone explain to me the difference between the three of them? Write on the comments below.. Hehehe

The color of the body milk is white. It is not that thick and doesn't feel greasy after application but I would prefer a thicker consistency because it still feels a little bit dry.

I'm curious how the violet or pink one feels. Maybe next time I'll try it.

As for the packaging I observed that nowadays products with liquid contents has a foil inside the bottle so you still need to punch a hole using a pin or needle to get a small amount of product but f course you will be caught in the grocery store if you do the pinning there.

Review: Nivea Intensive Moisture Serum

Name of Product: Nivea Intensive Moisture Serum
Weight: 200mL
Made in Thailand
Original price: P200+
Discounted price: P100+

Available in:
SM department stores
Mercury drug outlets
Robinsons Supermarket

Today May 9 is the last day of 50% off of Nivea products. I bought of their products and decided to make a review.

Packaging

It comes in a blue plastic squeeze bottle. You can easily read the SPF 25 PA++. For me the SPF is what I am looking for in a lotion aside from being a good moisturizing lotion. Nivea can improve the the packaging by placing inside the bottle or the opening.

The back has essential information which customers are looking for. Due to the hot weather in the Philippines especially during summer the skin gets dry fast. This lotion is a good remedy for dry skin.

The ingredients are listed also at the back. I love it that it is Paraben Free and it has Vitamin E.

The Serum

The lotion itself is white. It is not thick. When you apply it on the skin it doesn't feel greasy. After applying it feels like my skin can still breathe. If your skin is super dry maybe you need to use a lotion with a thicker consistency.

I also apply it on my face and it didn't cause any pimple breakout.

Review: San San Soleil Lipstick

Price: Less than P100
Where to find: HBC Stores

The packaging is attractive because it is yellow which is a bright color. It has also flower drawings so it makes the product more attractive to girls. It also comes with a box. The case of the lipstick in the picture above is  plastic.

The saleslady in HBC told me the lipstick is from Thailand.

This lipstick is not a matte lipstick. It has lots of moisture and it has a light pink color. It doesn't color the lips that much.It is more recommended to be used by people who has natural light colored lips. Its advantage is you do not need to put a layer of lip gloss on top because it is glossy enough. It is not long lasting and it has a thin texture.

Watched 3 Philippine orchestras for free

The show yesterday, May 2, was entitled Symphonic Sunsets at Makiling. It was held in the Tanghalang Maria Makiling, National Arts Center, Los Banos Laguna.

It is such a great privilege to watch for free these 3 amazing orchestras- Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Ochestra of the Filipino youth, ABS CBN philharmonic orchestra plus to get to watch conductors Gerard Salonga and Olivier Ochanine. Before I only see Gerard Salonga and orchestras on TV.

Orchestras usually have shows in Cultural Center of the Philippines and the tickets would cost thousands or hundreds. I grabbed the opportunity to watch since it is free admission. Then my friend told me they also made a show last year. O_o What? And I didn't even heard of it before. I should have watched last year too.

Transportation going to the National Arts Center is a challenge. I and my friends hired a jeepney but when the driver saw that there is a steep road going up and down he made us go down. The security was telling the driver he can make it but he did not push through. So we went down 500m+ walking up and down. I was wearing a 3.8 or 4 inch high wedge.

I was fascinated by the talent of Brian Berino, a 12 year old boy pianist. I love the energy of Mr. Thristan "Tum-Tum" Mendoza while playing the Marimba. Chi- Ying Yung played the piano very well and fast. She is great. The voices of Jade Riccio and Malvin Macasaet were thundering the hall and their harmony was so great. Over all it was a very successful night.

I also love the way Ms. Jamie Bernstein and Ms. Tricia Tunstall explained El Sistema, shared their stories, inspired the audience how music can have a good influence to the people especially the youth. They really appreciated the talent of the Ochestra of the Filipino youth.

Getting a good place is hard because we reached the venue about 30 minutes before it started. The seats were full and only concrete benches far from the hall were available for us.

The audience appreciated every piece. Being seated at the far part makes the sound quality poor than sitting in front. In addition there are some noisy people talking even if the orchestra is playing.

Going home was a hassle. We waited from about 7:30 to past 11pm for a jeepney to pick us up. Only four jeepneys were going up and down to fetch people and there are hundred or more than a thousand people who watched the concert. We rode the last trip. It was tiring, we were thirsty and hungry. We were dropped off far from a jeepney terminal so we need to walk another 500m. My feet were so tired walking. Next time I will wear doll shoes instead of a wedge.

Hearing the 3 orchestras played together is amazing. The final piece is by Beethoven Sonata. The conductor was Olivier Ochanine.

I get to have pictures with cello cases. Haha The cases were taller than me.

By the way this is how I looked yesterday.
