PRRC Rescued Families During Typhoon Henry Floods

The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) on July 17, 2018 rescued and evacuated residents living along the river to temporarily evacuate to a safer area as Typhoon #HenryPH caused flooding in low-lying areas.

PRRC Executive Director Jose Antonio E. Goitia mobilized the river warriors to assist him in the rescue operations while the river patrols assisted in the monitoring of water level in the other areas of Pasig and San Juan Rivers.

Goitia identified the families living along San Juan River, particularly in Gumamela St., Barangay Roxas District in Quezon City.

During the inspection conducted by PRRC, Goitia observed the dangerous current of water in San Juan River.

Because of this, Goitia appealed to the residents, who initially refused PRRC’s help, to temporarily evacuate until the heavy rain pours out. “Sana huwag na po nating hintaying malagay tayo sa panganib bunsod ng pagtaas ng tubig sa ilog,” Goitia said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) raised Orange Rainfall Warning in Metro Manila.

PRRC urges public to share unique stories about Pasig River

The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) urged the public to share their unique stories about the Pasig River.

According to PRRC Executive Director Jose Antonio E. Goitia, the public needs to know these stories to inspire them to help in the revival of the Pasig River.

These stories can be sent to the PRRC (prrc.gov@gmail.com) and those that will be chosen will be posted on the website— theriverman.org.

"We need to share these unique stories to let the public know how we value the Pasig River," Goitia added.

At the same time, Goitia said the Commission is determined to bring Pasig River back to life.

This meant putting mechanisms to prevent and to counter acts of "esterorism" in rivers and waterways that lead to Pasig River.

In addition, he said that the PRRC River Warriors were able to divert 21 million kilos of solid waste from the Pasig River.

Due to PRRC's efforts and determination, 17 priority tributaries had been converted into environmental preservation areas.

"The Pasig River was once biologically dead but now the river has gradually backed to life," Goitia added.

According to Goitia, the public should not lose hope for the Pasig River to survive because it has gradually been happening.

In this regard, Goitia called on the public to cooperate with and help the government on the rehabilitation of the Pasig River.

"You are not only helping us but the generations to come, they will realize that Pasig River is a dream that will become a reality," said Goitia.

Fashion 21 has affordable matte lipsticks. I bought them for P175 each at SM department store. This line is different from the Matte Permanent Lipstick. It comes with a box which is good because it will prevent customers from using it before you can use it. The lipstick case is not heavy. I think it is made of plastic and not metal. It contains 4 grams of product.

I bought the shades Sushi and Bronze because they are closer to the nude pink I am looking for. When applied on the skin or back of the hand it looks smooth. When I applied it on my lips it looks chappy or patchy. The patchiness is not obvious when you take a picture from afar. The patchy look is like the finish when you apply Maybelline color show lipstick.

Run After Purpose

My bridal makeup client last 2 months.

When I was in college I used to counsel younger people. After graduation I worked as a teacher then college instructor. I was used to giving people advices and remind them of values. Now that I am exercising one of my passions which is makeup. It involves colors, art, creating something. Yes it is fun seeing them happy with the transformation, how I enhanced their beauty or realize that they are beautiful but most of the time I ask myself if they would remember me for a longer time or if I really had an impact in their life. People come and go with the profession I am now in. Not much attachment or friendship.

Things change. It isn't like before that I used to give talks to a larger audience, give life lessons or help a person feel better.

I am just thinking for me to feel more fulfilled maybe I should also promote that people should take care of themselves more, remind that they are beautiful, that being presentable or appearance is important, or give tips on skincare and makeup. After all looking and feeling great boosts confidence. And confidence is needed to face the world everyday.

I don't want to exist just counting how much I earn, how much I spend or how much I lack. I always want to live more than that, more than just running after money.💕 💕 💕 

Di Na Muli by Itchyworms

Di Na Muli was written in 2016 by long-time friends Jazz Nicolas and Wally Acolola. They entered the song into the 5th Philippine Popular (PhilPop) Music Festival, performed by The Itchyworms, where it won the grand prize. Now, in 2018, the song has been given new life in the official soundtrack of the hit film Sid & Aya (Not A Love Story) (Viva Films, starring Dingdong Dantes and Anne Curtis, directed by Irene Villamor).

Somewhere in between PhilPop and Sid & Aya, the Itchyworms set out to immortalize the song. The result was a visually stunning and emotional music video, directed by Paolo Abella. Help also came along in the form of the video's co-director Juno Oebanda, longtime friend of the band, and the generous indulgence of none other than the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The link to the CCP is Teddy Hilado (d. 2015), recognized as the father of lighting design in Philippine theater, who is also the uncle of Oebanda

The song's themes of love, loss, and words left unspoken, are embodied in the elegant performances of Rosky Balahadia Hilado (Teddy's widow, formerly of the Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company) and Carissa Adea (Ballet Philippines), and in the video's sweeping visuals, all captured within the hallowed halls of the CCP. The music video seeks to serve as loving tribute to Teddy, whose influence is still felt and recognized to this day.

The Itchyworms are now proud to share what is probably the first-ever music video shot inside the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and extend heartfelt thanks to those who helped bring the music video to fruition.
