PHILIPPINES, Manila, December 16, 2016 – To cap off an eventful year, Herbalife Family
Foundation (HFF) visited two of its
beneficiary organizations under, SOS Children’s Village, to bring the festive
cheer to over 200 children. During the visits, HFF Philippines held activities,
which brought fun and joy and left big smiles on the children’s faces.
As part of the activities, Herbalife
donated a total of 250 books to the Batangas and Bataan Villages of SOS through
the CASA Herbalife Program, the flagship project of HFF. The books were given
by Herbalife independent members and guests via a month-long book collection
program organized by Herbalife Philippines, and benefitted 245 children from
the villages.
Barbette Soliven, Corporate
Communications Manager at Herbalife Philippines and the lead organizer of the
activities said, “Ever since we started these visits enabled by the CASA
Herbalife program, we have strived to make it a more engaging experience for
both the volunteers and the kids. I’m heartened to see that we have achieved
that this time round, and am glad to see the smiles on the childrens’ and
volunteers’ faces at the end of the day.”
Herbalife distributors,
executives and volunteers also spent two consecutive Saturdays (November 26 and
December 3) at the SOS facilities in Lipa, Batangas and Mariveles, Bataan,
where they spent time interacting with and playing with the children.
One of the key highlights was
the Ultimate Frisbee Clinic organized by Herbalife Philippines, where the children
were taught the basics of the sport, before culminating in a scrimmage game
played together with the volunteer team. The eventual winning team was
applauded by all the participants, and won themselves a Herbalife T-shirt and a
Frisbee each.
“We are very grateful to all the
Members who have supported the activities and took time to be with us; as well
as the young volunteers who joined us in teaching these kids the sport of
Ultimate Frisbee, ” Barbette Soliven added.
SOS Children’s Village has been
a recipient of the CASA Herbalife program for six years now. In 2016, grants
from HFF were used to conduct supplementary feeding programs and provide
nutrition education at targeted locations within the Philippines, benefitting
609 children below the age of 12 in 24 communities.
First established in the United
States in 2005, the CASA Herbalife Program aims to improve the lives of
children around the world by bringing good nutrition to those living in
orphanages, attending after-school centers, and other non-profit facilities. Through
the CASA Herbalife Program, Herbalife provides over $3.2 million in funding and
volunteer assistance to more than 130 organizations around the world each year,
